Hike in suicide rates
in India
The National Crime Records Bureau has come out with its
reports for 2011. The previous year saw 1.35 lakh suicides in total with family
problems accounting for 24% of the cases and illnesses causing 19% of the
total. West Bengal reported the highest number from a state ( 16,492) and Delhi
(1,716) among Union Territories. There has been a recorded hike of 25% from
2001 (1,08,506 cases) to 2011 (1,35,585 cases).
