Social activist Shabnam Hashmi supports Rihai Manch

Social activist Shabnam Hashmi on Saturday took part in the agitation organised by the Rihai Manch, an outfit formed to struggle for release of innocent Muslim youths allegedly implicated in false terror charges. Rihai Manch is holding indefinite demonstration for last 18 days demanding action against police officers responsible for arrest and death of terror accused Khalid Mujahid. It is also demanding state government to act on Nimesh Commission report which found discrepancies in arrest of Mujahid and his co-accused in the 2007 serial blasts case. Mujahid had died in police custody on May 18. After a street play by the members of Revolutionary Cultural Front, Jawaharlal Nehru University, on the allegedly fake Batla house encounter, Hashmi expressed her view. She said Mujahid is just one among many innocent Muslims who are arrested in the name of terrorism in India. "He was murdered because he could have been a witness against the UP policemen involved in falsely implicating innocent Muslims," she said.
